BIO
Jerónimo Maesso is a Spanish composer and pianist. He has written multiple ballets and as a pianist he specializes in improvisation, although he works in many genres ranging from jazz to symphonic music to music for television and radio. Maesso has worked and written for the Victor Ullate Ballet and the National Dance Company of Spain. Ballets include Arraigo,
written for Victor Ullate in 1988, Bestiario, written for Oscar Aráiz at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in 1992, and Mediterrania also performed at the Zarzuela in 1992 and choreographed by Nacho Duato.
The Art of Improvisation
Maesso's concert "The Art of Improvisation" is based on a personal concept about different forms of improvisational music. Taking inspiration from the audience, Maesso transforms each event into a unique musical experience - absolutely original and unmistakably authentic. Before an audience, his creativity unfolds, like its own form and instrument of expression, and his passion goes directly into making music. Each performance is created with sensitivity, delightful randomness, expressiveness, absolute freedom and is driven by a need for communication through art. These elements make it so that different musical moments occur that will never again be repeated. This show packs a punch of small works of art; it is ephemeral, fortuitous, and unrepeatable.
